Local Crime from 17th District 6-10-17
A WOMAN WAS shot at about 12:40 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at her home in the 4600 block of North Monticello Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 29-year-old woman reported that she heard a knock on the rear door of her apartment and that when she opened the door, a man shot her in the abdomen with a handgun, according to police. The woman was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital in serious condition and she was treated for a gunshot wound, police said.
Leland
A WITNESS reported that three men and two women attacked a man while he was in his car at about 6:45 p.m. Friday, June 2, in the 3500 block of West Leland Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A witness reported that he saw a white Toyota Camry sounding its horn at a vehicle that then drove at a fast and stopped, and that three men and a woman exited and approached the 52-year-old male driver, according to police. The witness reported that one of the men had a crowbar and shattered the front driver’s side window of the car and hit the driver in the face, and that the other men and women punched him in the face and upper body before the man with the crowbar walked around the vehicle and shattered the front passenger window, police said.
The driver was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital in serious condition and treated for a 5-inch laceration to the right side of his face, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 5:15 p.m. Friday, June 2, at a CTA bus stop in the 3400 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 30-year-old man reported that he was waiting inside a bus stop vestibule and a man approached him from the side and pointed a handgun at his stomach and demanded his belongings, and took his wallet containing $247 in cash, his cell phone valued at $90 and a gold chain valued at $200, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 5:20 a.m. Thursday, June 1, in the 3700 block of West Wilson Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 54-year-old man reported that he was walking and a man riding a red bicycle pointed a small pocketknife at him and demanded his wallet, and took his wallet containing $20 in cash and his state identification card, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, in the 4100 block of West Melrose Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 26-year-old woman reported that she was walking with her 3-year-old son and a man pointed a knife at her and demanded her purse and cell phone, according to police. The woman reported that she gave the man her cell phone and purse containing a Link card, her state identification card, a work permit and house keys, police said.
A MAN REPORTED he was robbed at about 10 p.m. Thursday, June 1, in the 3200 block of North Central Park Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 30-year-old man reported that he walking when three men displayed gang signs and punched him in the face and body, and that when he fell to the ground, the men started kicking him and stomping on his body, according to police. The man reported that one of the men took his cell phone valued at $700 and wallet containing $15 in cash, police said.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 6100 block of North Christiana Avenue was burglarized between 8:45 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday, June 1, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the rear gate leading to the alley was opened and the rear basement door had been broken and that jewelry valued at $1,100, a Sony Xbox video game console valued at $300, eight Sony video games valued at $300, a tablet valued at $200 and two computers valued at $200 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was the victim of a scam at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, June 4, in the 4200 block of North Central Park, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 86-year-old woman reported that a man arrived at her door attempting to sell a type of foundation filler and that she exited her apartment to speak with him, according to police. The woman reported that when she attempted to enter her apartment, she saw a man walk out of her apartment and asked him what he was doing inside her home before he fled, police said. The woman reported that after she discovered that $300 in cash was missing from her bedroom, according to police.

A woman reported that her purse was stolen at about 2:25 p.m. Saturday, June 3, in the 2900 block of West Grace Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 73-year-old woman reported that while she was walking home a man took her purse containing a cell phone valued at $100, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A man reported that his vehicle was burglarized at about 2:05 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, while it was parked in the 6400 block of North Knox Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that he saw three men hiding in the bushes of his home and that when he confronted the men they ran south toward West Devon Avenue, according to police. The man reported that when he returned to his vehicle, he discovered that $20 worth of quarters was missing, according to police.
A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following his arrest at about 7:55 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, in the 6600 block of North Trumbull Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
A woman reported that she saw a mini-van parked in the driveway of her home that was occupied by a male driver who appeared to be drunk with an open bottle of alcohol inside the vehicle, and that when she asked the man what he was doing there, he said, “This is my house,” according to police.
Officers reported that they saw a vehicle driving in reverse out of the woman’s driveway and that they stopped the vehicle after the driver allegedly made an unsafe turn at the intersection of Trumbull and North Shore avenues and arrested the driver after they smelled the odor of alcohol on his breath, discovered an open bottle of rum inside the vehicle and he failed sobriety tests, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Charles A. Smith, age 53, of the 6600 block of North Trumbull Avenue.
