Local Crime from 17th District 6-24-17
A MAN WAS shot at about 4:05 p.m. Thursday, June 15, in the 3300 block of North Ridgeway Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 18-year-old man reported that he was talking to his neighbor in front of his residence and that he saw a man standing behind a bush who covered his face with a T-shirt and fired a handgun at him several times, according to police. The neighbor reported that after he ran inside he saw a gray Volkswagen Jetta car with tinted windows drive away from heading east, police said.
The man was transported Illinois Masonic Hospital in serious condition and was treated for two gunshot wounds, police said.
A man reported that he was robbed at about 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, in the 4400 block of North Christiana Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 30-year-old man reported that he exited his vehicle and a man pointed a handgun at his face and said, "Give me everything you got," according to police. The man reported that another man approached him from the other side of the street, pointed a handgun at him, searched through his pockets and took his cell phone valued at $80, police said.
A COUPLE reported that a man threatened to rob them at about 11:20 p.m. Friday, June 16, in the 6000 block of North Drake Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 51-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman reported that while they were walking home, a black Audi Q5 automobile drove up next to them and the driver pointed a handgun out of the window at them and said, "Give me everything you got," and that when they told him they did not have anything, the man drove away, according to police. The couple reported that the driver had a white T-shirt wrapped around his head and that there was a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle and possibly in the back seat, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a man threatened to rob him at about 11 p.m. Friday, June 16, in the 6100 block of North Drake Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 32-year-old man reported that while he was walking, a man approached him, pointed a handgun at him and said, "Give me your money," and that when he told the man he did not have any money, the man demanded his cell phone, according to police. The man reported that after he told the man he did not have a cell phone the man entered a black Audi Q5 automobile and drove away with another man in the front passenger seat, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 6100 block of North Kedvale Avenue was burglarized between 6 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. Saturday, June 17, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been broken and that jewelry items valued at $20,000 were missing, according to police.
A TEENAGER was charged with four counts of unlawful use of a weapon following his arrest at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday, June 15, in the 4900 block of North Kildare Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers responded to a call of a suspicious person walking with a bicycle checking vehicle door handles and saw a person matching a description in the 4900 block of North Tripp Avenue and when they approached and asked him to walk toward their vehicle, the man person away, according to police. The officers chased the person on foot across several blocks and the he was arrested in the 4900 block of North Kildare Avenue and discovered two steak knives and a cigarette box containing seven razor blades concealed on his person, and a semi-automatic blue steel pistol loaded with a magazine containing five live rounds inside his backpack, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as a 16-year-old teenage male.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 4700 block of North Drake Avenue was burglarized between 5:30 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. Saturday, June 17, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the windowpane on the rear door had been broken and that jewelry and $120 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 4600 block of North Lawndale Avenue was burglarized at about 4:35 p.m. Sunday, June 18, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home, she discovered that a Sony Play Station video game system valued at $300 was missing from the front entryway, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A WOMAN reported that the garage of her residence in the 4100 block of West Touhy Avenue was burglarized between 11 p.m. Saturday, June 10, and 5:20 p.m. Sunday, June 11, according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her garage she discovered her Mongoose bicycle was missing, according to police.
A MAN AND a woman reported that one of their vehicles was burglarized and that another vehicle was stolen between 10 p.m. Thursday, June 15, and 12:30 a.m. Friday, June 16, from the driveway of their home in the 3900 block of West Fitch Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that when she went outside to her driveway to check if her silver 2016 Acura MDX automobile was locked she discovered that the vehicle was missing, according to police. The man reported that when he returned to his white 2008 Nissan Sentra automobile, he discovered that the doors were unlocked and a set of keys to the Acura was missing from inside the vehicle, police said.
A WOMAN reported that her vehicle was stolen between Saturday, June 17, and Wednesday, June 21, from the street in front of her home in the 3900 block of West Chase Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered her beige 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan was missing from where she had parked it on the street, according to police.
