Local Crime from 17th District 6-4-2016
A MAN WAS shot at about 2:55 a.m. Saturday, May 28, in the 4300 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 22-year-old woman reported that as she was driving in a car with a man and a woman, a van and a Buick attempted to box them in and a man fired a gun from one of the cars, with a round striking the man below the clavicle, according to police. The car crashed into a tree, and the man was admitted to Illinois Masonic Hospital in serious condition, police said.
Witnesses reported that the 22-year-old woman in the car that crashed into the tree fired a gun several times from the car and then left the car and hid something, and officers found a gun nearby, according to police. The woman was placed into custody, police said, but it was unclear if she was charged with a crime.
TWO MEN were arrested after they allegedly attacked a man at about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, in the 4400 block of North Hamlin Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 37-year-old man reported that three men approached him and asked his gang affiliation and that when he said that he is not in a gang, one of the men grabbed him and a second man struck him in the arm and the leg with a baseball bat, according to police. A resident reported that the men could be found in a garage, and officers arrested two suspects after they were identified, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Rahsaan Exson, age 22, of the 4400 block of Hamlin, and Dexter Rodriguez, age 23, of the 2700 block of West Farwell Avenue.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 7:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, in the 3200 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 28-year-old woman reported that a man implied that he had a gun and took her wallet and her bicycle but dropped the wallet as he was riding away on the bike, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, in the 4500 block of North Central Park Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 36-year-old man reported that two men got out of a car, one of them displayed a handgun, and the two took his cell phone and his wallet containing $145, according to police said.
A MAN REPORTED that two men attempted to rob him at about 2 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, in the 4600 block of North Lawndale Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that two men approached him and one of them and demanded his belongings, and that when he told them that he had a cell phone that had a global positioning system device tracker, the man punched him in the face and they fled, according to police.
A MAN AND a woman broke into a building in the 4500 block of North Kedzie Avenue and took items at about 2 p.m. Friday, May 27, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A video shows the two break into a lockbox, take a key that is used by the U.S. Postal Service to access the lobby of the building, open several packages and take their contents, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 4 a.m. Friday, May 27, in the 4200 block of North Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 73-year-old woman reported that as she was taking out the garbage she was struck in the head and her cell phone was taken, according to police.
A COUPLE reported that home in the 4000 block of West Patterson Avenue was burglarized at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday, May 29, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The couple reported that when they returned home they discovered that a basement window was broken and that a diamond necklace valued at $10,000, two laptop computers valued at $3,000, two iPads valued at $1,200, an Xbox 360 video game console valued at $500, 20 video games, and three controllers valued at $500 were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 3400 block of North Lowell Avenue was burglarized between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday, May 26, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that $200 in cash, a television set valued at $150 and a Play Station video game console valued at $500, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly stole items at about 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
A 27-year-old woman reported that while she was getting a massage, a woman took her bag, which contained recently purchased clothing items valued at $154, and left the salon with two other women, according to police. The woman said that she followed the women and saw them enter a vehicle that was being driven by a woman and drove off, police said.
Officers stopped the vehicle in the 6700 block of North McCormick Boulevard, and the suspect was arrested after they discovered the stolen bag inside the vehicle and she was identified, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Maria Helena Lebron, age 25, of the 2200 block of North 17th Street, Milwaukee.
A WOMAN was arrested after she allegedly shoplifted items from the Carson Pirie Scott store in the Lincolnwood Town Center, 3333 W. Touhy Ave., at about 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, according to Lincolnwood police.
An employee reported that he saw the woman take clothing items valued at $305 into the fitting room and leave the store without paying for the items, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Uchenna A. Byrd, age 32, of the 7200 block of South Short Avenue.
A WOMAN reported that her car was damaged between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, May 27, in the parking lot of the Republic Bank, 4433 W. Touhy Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
The woman reported that she discovered that the rear passenger-side window was broken but that no items were missing, according to police.
