Local Crime from 17th District 7-13-19
A MAN WAS shot at about 8 p.m. Thursday, July 4, in the 3700 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Two men, age 29 and 32, reported that they were walking on Milwaukee when two men in a black Ford vehicle approached, exchanged words and fired a gun, striking the 29-year-old in the left hand, and drove away, according to police. The 29-year-old man was treated at Community First Medical Center, according to police.
A TEENAGER was arrested for firing a gun at about 8 p.m. Sunday, July 7, in the 4600 block of North Monticello Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Two men reported that they saw a male shooting at another male on the street, with gunfire damaging eight parked vehicles, and officers found a 16-year-old male fitting the description and he was arrested after the witnesses identified him as the shooter, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as a male, age 16.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 12:20 a.m. Monday, July 1, by the south entrance of Ronan Park, 2902 W. Lawrence Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 36-year-old man reported that he was walking to the Lawrence Avenue entrance of the park when two men blocked his path and one man pointed a revolver and demanded his belongings, and took two gold chains, a watch and a pair of black and red Jordan-brand sneakers that he was wearing before the men walked away west on Lawrence, according to police.
The armed man was described as white/Hispanic, age 30 to 35, about 5-11 and 200 pounds with a muscular build, having a lion tattoo on the neck, and wearing a yellow shirt and jeans. The other man was described as white/Hispanic, age 19 to 21, about 5-6 and 130 pounds, and wearing a black shirt.
TWO MEN were arrested on robbery charges at about 1:45 a.m. Thursday, July 4, in the 3500 block of West Cullom Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Three men, all age 23, reported that they were helping a woman move into an apartment when two men approached them and one man asked their gang affiliation and to empty their pockets, and that one man handed over his phone while another man started to give his phone and wallet when one of the men reached a hand into his pockets and he punched him, and a brawl ensued and the three men were able to overpower and hold the men on scene until officers arrived, according to police.
One suspect was identified by police as Louis Torres, age 18, of the 3800 block of West Leland Avenue, and the other as Miguel Calderon, age 18, of the 3500 block of West Montrose Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. Sunday, July 7, in the 3900 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 42-year-old man reported that he was walking east when a man called out to him and punched him repeatedly and took his wallet, removed $60 and then threw the wallet to the ground and drove away in a brown, 1990’s-era four door sedan, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 30 to 35, 6-0 to 6-2, 170 to 190 pounds, with brown eyes, fade-style black hair, a thin goatee and a facial birthmark, and wearing black pants and a red Echo-brand T-shirt.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 2:20 a.m. Friday, July 5, in the 3200 block of North Central Park Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 60-year-old man reported that three or four men approached punched and kicked him and took 12-pack of beer that and ran away, according to police. The man was transported to Community First Medical Center for treatment, police said.
A WOMAN reported that two men stole her purse at about 1:15 p.m. Monday, July 8, at a bus stop in the 4200 block of North Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 42-year-old woman reported that she two men walked past her and one man took her purse containing $80 in cash and unsuccessfully tried to grab a wallet from around her neck, and that the men ran away east on Berteau Avenue, according to police.
The man were described as white/Hispanic with a dark brown complexion, age 18 to 25, 5-7 to 5-10, 150 to 180 pounds, with shaved black hair, and wearing a red T-shirt and gray sweatpants, and the other man as white/Hispanic with a medium brown complexion, age 20 o 25, 5-7 to 5-10 and 180 to 200 pounds.
A MAN AND a woman reported that their home in the 3200 block of North Whipple Street was burglarized between 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, and 12:15 a.m. Thursday, July 4, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that he heard noises upstairs and their dog was agitated but that he attributed it to fireworks outside, and the woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that $10,000 in cash was missing from her room, according to police.
