Local Crime from 17th District 7-21-18
A MAN WAS charged with robbery following his arrest at about 2:10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, in the 3400 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 24-year-old man reported that while he was walking in an alley, four to five men approached him and that one of the men took his cellphone and Sony headphones, according to police.
Officers reported that while they were speaking with the man, another robbery occurred at the intersection of Lawrence and North Saint Louis Avenues, and that when they transported the man to the scene of the robbery, he located his cell phone and headphones lying on the ground and the man who allegedly took his items was arrested after he was identified, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Juan L. Montero, age 34, of the 2200 block of South Sixth Avenue, North Riverside.
Two teenagers were arrested at about 10:45 a.m. Thursday, July 12, after they allegedly robbed the T-Mobile store, 3358 W. Lawrence Ave., and threatened to stab an employee, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
An employee reported that three people entered the store carrying knives and scissors and that one of them said, "Don’t come any closer or we’ll cut you," while two of the teens cut two iPhone cellphones valued at $1,800 from a display and ran out of the store, according to police.
Officers stopped two people matching a description at the corner of West Ainslie Street and North Spaulding Avenue, police said. A witness reported the people had entered a building in the 4900 block of North Kedzie Avenue, and they were arrested after the officers located them inside the building, according to police.
The officers recovered a knife in the 3300 block of West Lawrence Avenue and a pair of scissors in the 4800 block of North Christiana Avenue, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as 16- and 17-year-old teenage males, and the third person was described as black and wearing a blue hooded jacket and gray sweatpants.
A WOMAN reported that a man attacked her and attempted to rob her at about 2:15 p.m. Friday, July 13, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 23-year-old woman reported that as she was opening the gate to her residence, a man approached her from behind, punched her on the right side of her face and tried to grab her tote bag, and that when she resisted and screamed for help, he let go of the bag and fled, according to police.
Lawrence 3
A MAN REPORTED he was robbed at about 3:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, in the 3200 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 21-year-old man reported that a man approached him on the sidewalk and asked if he wanted to "buy a shirt," and that when he said no, the man asked him if he had a few dollars for the train, according to police.
The man reported that after he took out his wallet and gave the man $2 in cash, the man took his wallet containing $100 in cash, two credit cards and a debit card, police said.
The man was described as black, age 20 to 30 and about 5-8, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, in the 3200 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 29-year-old man reported that a man punched him in the face and took his wallet, watch and cellphone, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of the Shell gas station, 3700 W. Addison St., reported that two men robbed the business at gunpoint at about 3:10 a.m. Thursday, July 12, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The employee reported that two men entered the store of the station and that one of the men waited by the front door while the other man approached him at the cash register, pointed a black handgun at him, demanded money and took $400 from him before both men exited the store, according to police.
The men were described as black and age 18 to 25.
A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked by a man with a baseball bat at about 9 p.m. Monday, July 16, in the 4400 block of North Hamlin Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Kedzie
A man reported that a man attempted to stab him at about 8:05 p.m. Thursday, July 12, in the parking lot of Salam restaurant, 4636 N. Kedzie Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 35-year-old man reported that while he was eating inside the restaurant, a man approached him and demanded $80 in cash that he said he owed him, and that after he finished his meal, exited the restaurant and entered his vehicle, the man drove up to him in a 2001 silver Chevrolet automobile, parked his vehicle next to him and then lunged at him from his driver’s side window and attempted to stab him with an unknown object before he drove away, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 4900 block of North Kentucky Avenue was burglarized between 8:15 a.m. and 11 p.m. Friday, June 15, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home, he discovered the rear door had been unlocked and that jewelry valued at $5,200, $3,000 in cash and an Apple MacBook laptop computer valued at $1,000 were missing, according to police.
SHOTS WERE fired at about 11:25 p.m. Monday, July 9, outside of the Shell Gas station, 7201 N. Cicero Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
A witness reported that two men exchanged gunfire and a man who was shot outside of Lincolnwood was uncooperative with officers, according to police. The incident was recorded on store surveillance cameras with numerous spent bullet casings recovered on scene, police said. Police continue to investigate the incident, which they suspect may have stemmed from a prior dispute relating to criminal activity outside of Lincolnwood, according to police.
A WOMAN WAS arrested after she allegedly tried to steal a truck with a man inside at about 3:10 a.m. Friday, July 13, in the parking lot of the Chipotle Mexican Grill, 7150 N. McCormick Blvd., according to Lincolnwood police.
A 32-year-old man reported that he was inside the rear trailer of his truck loading a delivery when he felt as if someone "collided with his running truck" and saw a woman in the front truck cabin trying to put the truck into gear to drive away, and the man then confronted the woman and afterwards entered the restaurant and called police, according to police. Officers saw the woman who was allegedly intoxicated outside the truck’s rear and found beer bottles in the truck cabin belonging to the woman, and she was arrested after she was identified, police said. The woman was charged with felony vehicular invasion and burglary to a motor vehicle, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Fadia Loza, age 38, of the 7200 block of North Damen Avenue.
A MAN WAS charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following his arrest at about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, in the 3000 block of West Touhy Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
Officers saw a 2006 Honda Odyssey drifting in lanes in the 7100 block of North McCormick Avenue and turned right onto Touhy Avenue, and the driver was arrested after he failed sobriety tests, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Giang Thai Truong Nguyen, age 37, of the 5000 block of North Broadway Street.
A MAN REPORTED that his car was stolen from a driveway in the 6900 block of North Kilbourn Avenue between 5 p.m. Thursday, July 12, and 12:10 p.m. Friday, July 13 according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that he left his grey 2018 Audi A4 unlocked with the keys inside and discovered that it was missing, according to police.
In related news, nine burglaries to vehicles were reported between July 11 and 16, police said.
Burglaries were reported twice in the 6900 block and once in the 7000 block of North Kilbourn Avenue, twice in the 4400 block of West Greenleaf Avenue, and once in the 6800 and 6900 blocks of North Kenneth Avenue, the 6900 block of North Keystone Avenue and the 3800 block of West Estes Avenue, according to police.
