Local Crime from 17th District 7-28-18
SHOTS WERE fired in an apparent gang-related incident at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, July 21, in the 3600 block of North Whipple Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 35-year-old man reported that he was standing on a street corner when a dark grey sport utility vehicle drove up and a man fired two shots before the vehicle drove away south, according to police. The man was not hit, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 21, in the vestibule of an apartment building in the 5700 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that he saw a woman searching through mailboxes at about 4 p.m., and that she left after he questioned what she was doing, according to police. The man reported that the woman returned later with a man who pushed him out of a wheelchair and took his driver’s license, social security card and $110 in cash, police said.
The man was described as black, age 20 to 25, about 5-10 and 175 pounds, with black eyes, short black hair and a dark brown complexion. The woman was described as black, age 20 to 25, about 5-8 and 250 pounds, with brown eyes and curly black hair.
TWO MEN WERE arrested for allegedly threatening a man and a woman at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday, July 21, in the 4800 block of North Saint Louis Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 37-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man reported that two men approached them and one of them pointed a knife at them and another man took out a small baseball bat and threatened them as they called police, according to police. The man and woman then ran away at which time the man with the bat pursued them, and officers saw the man with the bat chasing them and arrested both of the armed men, police said. Officers also discovered two replica handguns, according to police.
The suspects were identified by police as Angel Morales, age 18, and Ernesto Morales, age 21, both of the 4800 block of North Spaulding Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, July 22, in the 4800 block of North Saint Louis Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 34-year-old man reported that he was walking west on Lawrence from the train when two men approached and one man stuck a metal object to his back that felt like a handgun as another man forced him into an alley on Saint Louis, according to police. The man reported that they demanded his belongings and took his phone valued at $100, and that one man hit him in the face before they fled, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 12:30 a.m. Monday, July 23, in the 3200 block of West Leland Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 27-year-old man reported that a red Chevrolet pickup truck used for scrap metal collection drove up to him on the sidewalk, and that a man armed with a large knife ran out of the truck, demanded cash and took $830 before he drove away, according to police.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, approximately 5-5 and 160 pounds, and wearing a red shirt.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, in the 3200 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 29-year-old man reported that a man approached, punched him in the face and took his watch, cellphone and wallet containing miscellaneous items before he ran away, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that a man took his wallet at about 3:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, in the 3200 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that he was walking when a man approached and asked if he wanted to buy a shirt, to which he replied no, and that the man then asked for cash for the train, and that when he pulled out his wallet to give $2 in cash the man took the wallet containing credit and debit cards and $100 in cash, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 20 to 30, approximately 5-8, with a very dark skin complexion.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 3000 block of West Montrose Avenue was burglarized between 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, July 22, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered the front door had been force open, and that a designer-brand watch with diamonds valued at $4,000 and 20 model vehicles valued at $2,000 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 5300 block of North Kimball Avenue was burglarized between 8:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday, July 19, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door and a bedroom window had been opened and that a bicycle valued at $500 and a white gold ring and pendant valued at $225 were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 4200 block of North Kimball Avenue was burglarized between 7 p.m. Saturday, July 21, and midnight Sunday, July 22, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that a jewelry box with gold chains and $5,000 in cash was missing, according to police.
