Local Crime from 17th District 7-7-18
A MAN WAS detained after he allegedly attacked three people and broke a rideshare car window at about 4 a.m. Monday, July 2, in the 6200 block of North Lincoln Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A driver reported that he picked up a woman and two men at the intersection of Devon and Lincoln avenues and picked up a fourth man shortly after, according to police. The driver reported that the fourth passenger suddenly asked to leave the vehicle and took the keys as the car stopped, opened the rear passenger door and struck the other passengers with a belt, and threw a rock that shattered the front passenger window, police said. The driver reported that the man then ran back and forth across Lincoln and was lying in the middle of the street when police arrived, according to police. The man was transported to Swedish Covenant Hospital, as officers believed the man was under the influence of a drug, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at gunpoint at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, in the 3500 block of North Kilbourn Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 27-year-old man reported that he was walking when two men approached from behind and demanded his belongings and one man pressed a black handgun to his head and took his Samsung Galaxy cellphone, an Illinois state identification card and $80 in cash, according to police.
Both men were described as white/Hispanic.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed and that his vehicle was stolen at about 1:45 a.m. Monday, July 2, in the 3300 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 43-year-old man reported that he was stopped in traffic in his dark blue 2006 Toyota Prius when three men pulled him from the car to the ground and one man struck him with a baseball bat on the right shoulder as another man took his wallet containing a debit card and $300 in cash, and that the three men entered the car containing his cellphone valued at $800 and were joined by two other men waiting at a nearby corner before all five men drove away, according to police.
LINCOLNWOOD
A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly trying to break into a car at about 10:10 a.m. Friday, June 29, in the parking lot at the A. Schoeneman and Co. office, 6901 N. Lincoln Ave., according to Lincolnwood police.
A woman reported that she saw a man trying to enter a Honda RS parked at the A. Schoeneman office, and the vehicle owner reported that she left the windows partially down and heard her car alarm go off but that nothing was missing, according to police.
A surveillance video footage shows that a man unsuccessfully tried to open the car doors and reached through the windows numerous times before running away on Lincoln, and officers saw the man walking outside of the Lincolnwood Medical Center, 6501 N. Lincoln Ave., later that day and arrested him, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Mik Youkhanna, age 40, of the 8100 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue, Skokie.
A MAN REPORTED that his vehicle was burglarized between 10 p.m. Monday, June 25, and 3:20 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, while it was parked in the 6900 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue, according to Lincolnwood police.
The man reported that when he returned to his Lexus RX350 he discovered that the front passenger window had been shattered, and that the key to his locking wheel system was missing from the glove compartment and three tires were stolen, according to police.
