Local Crime from 17th District 8-26-17
A MAN REPORTED that he was cut with a knife at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, in the 5100 block of North Pulaski Road, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 36-year-old man reported he had an argument with a man over a cigarette and the man cut him with a pocketknife on the right hand, according to police. The man was treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital, police said.
SHOTS were fired at about 1:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, in the 4400 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
Officers responded to calls of shots fired and several witnesses reported that they saw that occupants fired guns from a white Mitsubishi Montero and fled, according to police. Officers found four 45-caliber and two 9mm shells on the street, police said.
SHOTS were fired at about 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, in the 3900 block of North Christiana Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 20-year-old man reported that he was standing outside his home when a man in the passenger side of a blue Jeep driving fired a gun at him, but he was not hit, according to police. Officers discovered a 9mm shell casing in the street, police said.
A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly striking a man with a brick at about 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, in the 3700 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 52-year-old man reported at Illinois Masonic Hospital that he had an argument with a man who struck him in the back of the head with a brick, according to police. The alleged assailant was later arrested after he was identified, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Thomas Pierce, age 41, of the 1600 block of West LeMoyne Street.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attempted to rob him at about 11:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, in the 3500 block of West Foster Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 19-year-old man reported that he was carrying a bag of linens in an alley when a dark colored car containing three men approached him and a man wearing a ski mask pointed a knife at him, and that he dropped his bag and ran away, according to police.
A WOMAN WAS arrested for allegedly threatening a man with a knife at about 10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at the Jewel-Osco store, 4042 W. Foster Ave., according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 35-year-old security guard reported that he saw a woman conceal $20 worth of items inside her book bag and when he confronted her the woman attempted to open a folding knife but she was detained, according to police. The woman was also charged with retail theft, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Heidi E. Schmidt, age 45, of the 4000 block of West Crystal Street.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4700 block of North Saint Louis Avenue was burglarized between 3:45 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 38-year-old man reported that he returned home from work to find his front door and the padlocks for all three bedrooms forced open, and discovered a pair of sunglasses valued at $200 and at least $500 worth of jewelry to be missing, police said.
A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly breaking into a home in the 3000 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue at about 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 33-year-old man reported that when he returned home he saw a man inside his apartment holding his wallet containing $54 in cash and the man fled, according to police. The man was later arrested after he was identified, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Jowan D. Akins, age 19, of unknown address at the time of the report.
