Local Crime from 17th District 8-29-20
A MAN WAS fatally shot at about 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, in the 4600 block of North Kasson Avenue, according to the Chicago Police Department Office of News Affairs.
The 18-year-old man was standing on a sidewalk when a dark colored SUV approached and an unknown male offender exited and began firing multiple shots at the victim, according to police.
The man sustained two gunshot wounds to the chest and stomach and several in the back and was taken to Illinois Masonic in critical condition where he was pronounced deceased, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE of the McDonald’s restaurant, 3625 W. Irving Park Road, reported that the business was robbed at about 3:55 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The employee reported that a man approached the register, lifted his shirt to show a gun and demanded money from the register, according to police. The employee reported that the man reached over the counter and took about $600 in cash from the register and fled on foot in an unknown direction, police said.
The man was described as White/Hispanic, age 30 to 40, 5-9, 190 pounds with short, black hair.
AN EMPLOYEE of the TCF Bank in the Jewel-Osco food store, 3570 N. Elston Ave., reported that a man attempted to rob the bank at about 9:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The employee reported that a man approached the counter and slipped a note to her that read, "Robbery. No dye pack. No GPS. You have 10 seconds," according to police. The employee reported that she opened her register to show the man that the contents were empty and he said, "What’s going on?" then fled through the entrance of the Jewel, police said.
The man was described as White, age 30 to 40, 5-10 to 6-0, 180 to 190 pounds with blond hair, a grayish-brown beard and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a white bandana covering his face.
AN EMPLOYEE of Leo’s Liquors Mayfair, 4471 W. Lawrence Ave., reported that the store was robbed at about 12:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, according to police.
The employee reported that a man entered the store and asked about vodkas while he was counting approximately $7,000 in cash behind the register, according to police.
The employee reported that the man ran behind the counter, pushed him to the ground and fled west on Lawrence Avenue with the money, police said.
The man was described as Black, age 20 to 30, wearing a gray t-shirt, blue jeans, red gloves and a face mask.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5400 block of North Bernard Street was burglarized between 3 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door was damaged and jewelry valued at $10,000 was missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 3500 block of West Wilson Avenue was burglarized between 11:40 a.m. and 5:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door was damaged and $7,000 worth of jewelry and $400 in cash were missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 4700 block of North Troy Street was burglarized between noon and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned to her apartment she discovered that the front door was damaged and $700 in cash and $3,500 worth of jewelry were missing, according to police.
