Local Crime from 17th District 8-4-18
A WOMAN reported that a man threatened her with a handgun at about 1 a.m. Sunday, July 29, in the 3400 block of North Harding Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 44-year-old woman reported that while she was parking her vehicle, a man knocked on the driver’s side window, pointed a blue steel semi-automatic handgun at her and said "get out of the car" as he pulled on the door handle, and that when she sounded her horn, the man ran away, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 20 to 25, 5-2 to 5-5 and 120 to 125 pounds, with black hair and wearing black pants and a black t-shirt.
A WOMAN reported that a teenager attacked her at about 7:35 p.m. Sunday, July 29, in the 4700 block of North Lawndale Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that while she was walking through a yard behind her residence, a teenager asked her for her cellphone, and that when she said no, he hit her twice on her left wrist with a broom handle before he ran away, according to police.
The teenager was described as black, age 14 to 16, 5-0 to 5-2 and 85 to 95 pounds, with black hair and wearing a blue t-shirt.
A MAN REPORTED that two men robbed him at about 2 a.m. Sunday, July 29, in the 4700 block of North Central Park Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 18-year-old man reported that while he was walking on the sidewalk two men demanded his cellphone, and after he fought with the two men, they took his wallet containing $500 in cash and his cellphone valued at $100 from him before they fled, according to police.
The men were described as black, age 20 to 29 and between 5-6 and 5-9, and one of the men was described as between 140 and 160 pounds, and the other man was described as between 180 and 240 pounds.
A TEENAGER reported that a man robbed him at about 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, in the 5100 block of North Kimball Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 15-year-old teenager reported that while he was walking past an alley a man pointed a handgun at him and demanded his phone and money and then took his iPhone 6 cell phone valued at $200 and $100 in cash, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that two men robbed him at about 6 p.m. Saturday, July 28, in the 3700 block of West Lawrence Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 34-year-old man reported that two men approached him and one of them choked him and the other man punched him and took $200 in cash, according to police.
One of the men was described as black, 5-10 to 6-0 and 150 to 160 pounds with a black Afro hairstyle, and the other man was described as Asian/Pacific Islander, 5-5 to 5-8 and 120 to 130 pounds, with a ponytail hairstyle.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that a man shoplifted items from the American Dream store, 3837 W. Lawrence Ave., at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 29, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The employee reported that a man entered the store and took a pack of 30 lottery tickets valued at $900 and left the store, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 25 to 30, 5-4 and 130 pounds.
A MAN REPORTED that a man burglarized his apartment in the 5000 block of North Sawyer Avenue at about 1:50 p.m. Thursday, July 26, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that while his teenage daughter was home, she heard a noise inside the residence and that when she exited her bedroom, she saw a man exit through the back door carrying a Sony Play Station 4 video game console valued at $400, a tablet computer valued at $400 and a Nintendo Switch video game console valued at $100, according to police.
The man was described as black, about 20 years old, about 6-0 and 170 pounds with black hair.
A MAN REPORTED that his residence in the 4700 block of North Sawyer Avenue was burglarized between 11 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a window on the front door had been opened and that jewelry valued at $3,000 was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her apartment in the 3800 block of North Spaulding Avenue was burglarized at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, July 28, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that a window on the front door had been forced open and that a television set, a laptop computer, a Sony Xbox video game console, video games and jewelry were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his residence in the 4700 block of West Addison Street was burglarized between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, July 30, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the rear door had been forced open and that $1,500 in cash was missing, according to police.
