Local Crime from 17th District 9-2-17
A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly threatening a man and a woman with a gun at about 1 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, in the 5600 block of North Keystone Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
An 18-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man reported that they were driving when a man drove next to their car and pointed a revolver and threatened them before driving away, according to police. Officers discovered a vehicle matching a description and the man was arrested after he was identified, police said. Officers discovered a gun in the street in the 4000 block of West Hollywood Avenue that was identified by the man and the woman, and discovered a safe containing $22,620 in cash in the rear of the man’s vehicle, police said.
The suspect was identified by police as Ernie Perez, age 23, of the 5600 block of North Keystone Avenue.
THE OWNER and two employees of the Cairo Nights Hookah Lounge, 3446 W. Foster Ave., reported that they were attacked by seven men at about 5:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
An 18-year-old man and 17-year-old teenager reported that they were closing the business when a man walked into the kitchen and refused to leave, according to police. The employees reported that the man was with six other men who were outside of the business, according to police. The employees reported that a waitress called for help from the owner and when the 27-year-old man arrived a fight ensued outside and all three were attacked by the men, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed between 3:45 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, in the 4600 block of West School Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 33-year-old woman, who told police that she was a prostitute, reported that she was picked up by a man in the 3100 block of North Cicero Avenue and that once she performed a sexual act on him the man beat, choked and bit her, according to police. The woman reported that the man took her purse, a cell phone and $220 in cash, police said. The woman reported that she ran away and that a friend drove her to Community First Hospital in the morning, according to police.
A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly attempting to rob a man at about 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at a home in the 4400 block of North Kostner Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 40-year-old man reported that his boyfriend knocked on the door to enter the house, pointed a shotgun at him, ordered him to his knees and demanded cash, according to police. A 34-year-old man, who is a roommate, reported when he returned home he saw the man rack the shotgun and he and the 40-year-old man lunged at the man, police said. The men reported that the man with the gun fired a shot and missed them, and they fought with the man and disarmed him, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Jose Otero, age 20, of the 4900 block of West Drummond Place.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, in the alley of the 4400 block of North Sacramento Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 30-year-old man reported that he was walking home when two men wearing hooded sweatshirts and bandanas approached him from behind, pointed a black handgun at him, took $35 in cash, and fled in a black Honda driven by a third man, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 11:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, in the 3700 block of West Cornelia Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 24-year-old man reported that he was walking on the sidewalk when two men wearing ski masks approached him from behind, and one of them pointed a black handgun at his head, and took his cell phone, backpack with work uniforms and medication, and $50 in cash before leaving through an alleyway, according to police.
A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, in the 4900 block of North Spaulding Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 16-year-old teenager reported that he was biking home from work when a beige Toyota Corolla struck him from behind and knocked him to the ground, according to police. The teenager reported that two teenagers exited the vehicle, kicked him, took his backpack and two cell phones, and then threatened him with a knife before fleeing, according to police.
One teenager was described as black, age 17 to 18, and 5-7 to 5-8 and 120 to 130 pounds. The other teenager was described as black, age 15 to 16, and 5-4 to 5-5 and 120 to 130 pounds.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 5 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, in the 3400 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 24-year-old woman reported that she was standing when a man approached, pointed a 3-inch pocketknife at her and threatened to stab her in the stomach unless she handed him money, according to police. The woman reported she then handed over $30 in cash and the man fled, according to police.
The man was described as black, age 20 to 25, about 5-5 to 5-8 and 120 to 130 pounds, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.
A WOMAN reported that she was robbed at about 6:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, in the 4400 block of North Sawyer Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 30-year-old woman reported that a man approached her, pointed a knife at her, demanded money and took $280 in cash, according to police.
The man was described as African-American, age 20 to 30, about 6-0 and 170 pounds, wearing a grey tank top and having brown hair in a fade hairstyle.
A MAN REPORTED that he was kidnapped between about 1:15 p.m. and 1:45 p.m Tuesday, Aug. 29, in the 3300 block of West Wilson Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 50-year-old man reported that he was walking when a man approached him and asked him a question about a church, before grabbing him by the shirt and pushing him into a tan minivan driven by another man, according to police. The man reported that they pointed a handgun to his head, threatened him and his family and asked him how much money was in his bank account, before driving him to a TCF Bank automated teller machine in the Jewel-Osco at Kedzie and Elston, where he withdrew $13,000 in cash for the two men, according to police.
One man was described as Hispanic, age 55 to 60, about 6-0, with brown hair, hazel eyes and a light brown complexion. The other man was described as Hispanic, age 50 to 55, with short hair and a darker complexion.
THREE PEOPLE reported that they were robbed at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, in the 3800 block of West Wilson Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 20-year-old woman and two men age 19 and 22 reported that they were walking when a man approached, pointed a handgun at them and took their cell phones, before fleeing through an alley with another man, according to police.
The man with the gun was described as Hispanic, 17 or 18 years old, about 5-2 and 110 pounds, wearing a blue skullcap, black pants and a black Bulls hooded sweatshirt, and had a mustache and a natural facial birthmark.

The 42-year-old man reported he was in the back of his work van when a man approached him, lifted his shirt implying that he had a weapon, and demanded his tools and took two drills and an impact gun, according to police.
THREE MEN and a woman reported they were robbed at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, in the 3300 block of North Troy Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The three men, age 20, 24 and 59, and a 57-year-old woman, reported that they were walking when two men wearing masks and hooded sweatshirts pointed handguns at them and demanded their belongings, and took their wallets, cell phones and a purse, according to police. The men and the woman, who are a family, reported having recognized the two men as the occupants of a grey sedan seen parked in an alley earlier during their walk, according to police.
One man was described as white, age 19 to 25, and about 5-11 and 180 pounds. The other man was described as Hispanic, age 19 to 25, and about 5-8 and 150 pounds.

The 38-year-old man reported that he was walking when two men wearing white gloves, tan masks and grey hooded sweatshirts approached him, pointed a black handgun to his head, and took his cell phone, wallet, and backpack containing clothes, according to police.
A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at about 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, in the 4600 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 15-year-old teenager reported that he was walking home from school when a tinted 2-door car stopped suddenly and two men exited, punched and kicked him, and took his cell phone, according to police.
