Local Crime from 16th District 9-6-17
A TEENAGER reported that she was robbed at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, in the 3200 block of North Neenah Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 17-year-old teen reported that she was walking on the sidewalk when a black sport utility vehicle drove by her and two women exited and attempted grabbing her purse, according to police. The teen reported that after resisting the women punched her in the face and hit her in the back of the head with a beer bottle, police said. The teenager was treated at Resurrection Hospital, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Popeye’s restaurant, 4866 N. Milwaukee Ave., was burglarized between 11:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, and 7:30 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
An employee reported that another employee was opening the store and discovered that the back door had been pried open and that blank checks, a safe valued at $5,000, two cash registers valued at $3,000, and $1,200 in cash were missing, according to police.
THEFTS OF catalytic converters from vehicles were reported between Aug 25 and Sept. 1, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Thefts were reported in the 6000 block of North Mobile Avenue, the 3400 block of North Newcastle Avenue, the 3500 block of North Normandy Avenue, the 6500 block of West Addison Street, the 6000 block of West Ardmore Avenue, the 6000 block of West Patterson Avenue and the 6100 block of North Ozark Avenue, according to police.
Thefts were also reported in the 7200 block of West Thorndale Avenue, the 6000 block of North Olympia Avenue, the 7700 block of West Balmoral Avenue, the 5800 block of North Medina Avenue, the 3300 block of North Ottawa Avenue, and the 7700 block of West Forest Preserve Avenue, according to police.
A TEENAGER reported that he was robbed at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, in the 3300 block of North Oriole Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 16-year-old teen reported that a man approached him after he was dropped off from a friend’s car, took his cell phone, and pointed a handgun at him when he asked for the phone back, according to police. The teen reported that he ran away and yelled for police and that the man chased before he was able to call police at a neighbor’s home, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 4900 block of West Cullom Avenue was burglarized between 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, and 1:30 a.m. the following day, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that a window screen had been cut and that a rifle, another assault rifle of unknown make, a 50-caliber revolver, a 45-inch television set, two laptop computers, a chrome book laptop, miscellaneous costume jewelry, a Playstation 3 video game console, and a Nintendo DS video game console and two Nintendo games were missing, according to police.

SHOTS WERE fired at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, in the 4500 block of North Melvina Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 33-year-old woman reported that she was in her backyard when she saw two vehicles that she believed to be a black Chevrolet and a white Subaru parked down the street, according to police. The woman reported that three shots came from one of the vehicles before they both sped off at high speed, police said. Officers discovered a live 9mm and a 9mm shell casing on the street, according to police.
SHOTS WERE fired at about 7 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, in an alley on the 5300 block of North Mobile Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 50-year-old man reported that he heard three gunshots in his alley, and showed to police a surveillance video of a man exiting the passenger side of a white Ford minivan in the alley, firing three rounds into the air with a black semiautomatic handgun, and driving away, according to police.
A MAN WAS arrested for allegedly breaking into a home in the 5200 block of North Oakview Avenue at about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
A 47-year-old man reported that he discovered a man in the shared laundry room of his building and told him to leave, before finding the man minutes later inside of his apartment’s dining room, having kicked in his front door, according to police.
The man reported that the man threatened and struck him in the shoulder and back of his head with a metal object, before he man fled the home, according to police.
The suspect was identified by police as Kareem Parnell, age 18, of the 8700 block of West Summerdale Avenue.
A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked at about midnight Thursday, Aug. 31, in the 6100 block of West Melrose Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 70-year-old man reported he was walking on the sidewalk when a Polish man approached him, pushed him to the ground and kicked him in the right leg, before fleeing in a silver Honda civic, according to police.
AL’S PIZZA, 6344 W. Irving Park Road, was burglarized at about 3:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug 31, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Police saw on a video that a man arrived in a white car, broke the front door with a rock, emptied the cash registers, and removed the safe from a rear room, according to police. Officers discovered that about $1,500 in cash was stolen, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that a man threatened him with a knife at about 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, in an alley on the 3600 block of North Luna Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 44-year-old man reported that he was arguing with the driver of a car blocking an alley when the man yelled at him for trying to take down his license plate number, grabbed a knife from his vehicle, and threatened to throw it at him, according to police.
