Local Crime from 1th District 9-16-17
A MAN WAS shot at about 12:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, in the 3100 block of West Byron Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 24-year-old man reported that he finished playing soccer with three other men at the athletic field of Cleveland School when a man approached them and asked their gang affiliation, according to police. The man reported that the man pointed a handgun at him and fired six shots at him before driving away in a dark colored sport utility vehicle, police said.
The 24-year-old man received a graze wound to his lower back but was not transported to the hospital, while another 20-year-old man on reported that he discovered a bullet hole in the backpack, according to police. Officers discovered six spent 9mm shell casings and bullet damage to three parked vehicles, police said.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, age 18 to 20, approximately 5-5 and 160 pounds, and wearing black pants and a black hooded sweatshirt.
A MAN REPORTED that that he was threatened with a gun at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, in the 4000 block of West Montrose Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 22-year-old man reported that he had an argument with a man inside a convenience store, and that when they exited the man lifted his shirt to reveal a handgun and threatened him, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 20 to 25, approximately 5-9 and 120 pounds, with a blonde/strawberry ponytail hairstyle, and wearing blue jeans and an orange shirt with a Ferrari badge on it, and was recognized by the victim as someone who frequents the area.
A MAN REPORTED that a man fired a gun at him at about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, in the 4100 block of North St. Louis Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 20-year-old man reported that he observed a suspicious silver sport utility vehicle in the alley and that he waited a few minutes in a nearby backyard, and that a man exited the vehicle when he reentered the alley and fired two shots at him that missed him, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was attacked at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, in the 4000 block of North California Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 48-year-old man reported that he had an argument with two men on the street and that they punched him in the face and head, and that one of them hit him in the head with a beer bottle, according to police. The man was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital for serious abrasion injuries, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 3:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept 7, in the 3500 block of West Ainslie Street, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 31-year-old man reported that he was walking when two men approached from behind and demanded his money and belongings, according to police. The man reported that one man was armed with a small black handgun while the other man had a knife, police said. The man reported that he resisted and that one man hit him in the back of the head with the gun, fired two shots in the air, and took his wallet containing various cards and about $1,000 in cash, according to police. The man was treated at Swedish Covenant Hospital for minor injuries, police said.
Both men were described as white/Hispanic, age 18 to 20, and approximately 5-7 to 5-8.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 3 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, in the 3200 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 42-year-old man reported that he was arguing with a man who asked him for money when the man punched him in the face, held a knife to his throat, and took his cell phone, according to police.
The man was described as white, about age 45, approximately 4-10 and 150 pounds, and had shaved brown hair.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1:40 a.m. Monday, Sept 11, in the 5000 block of North Drake Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 23-year-old man reported that he was sitting in his car when two men approached him, that one man pointed a silver revolver at him and demanded that he exit his vehicle, and that they took his cell phone and wallet containing $20 in cash, according to police.
TWO CONVENIENCE marts were robbed at gunpoint by who police believe were the same men on Saturday, Sept. 9, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
A 59-year-old man who was shopping at B-Mart, 3756 W. Montrose Ave., reported that two men entered the store at about 2:50 p.m., and that one man pointed a gun at the 79-year-old employee while the other man took $200 in cash from behind the counter, according to police.
A 34-year-old employee of Martin’s Mini Market, 3801 N. Cicero Ave., reported that two men entered the store at 3:10 p.m. and that one man pointed a blue steel handgun at him while the other man took $2,000 in cash from the register, police said.
Police said that both robberies had the same description of the offenders.
The armed man was described as white/Hispanic, approximately 5-7 to 5-9 and 150 to 170 pounds, and wearing a black-and-white ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt and black pants, while the other man was described as white/Hispanic, approximately 5-4 to 5-7 and 160 to 180 pounds, and wearing black shorts and a black hooded sweatshirt tied tightly around the face.
AN EMPLOYEE of the 7-Eleven store, 3600 W. Belmont Ave., reported that the store was robbed at about 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 41-year-old cashier reported that a man entered the store holding a knife, demanded money, and took $100 in cash and two packs of cigarettes, according to police.
The man was described as age 20 to 28, approximately 6-1 and 190 pounds, with brown eyes, a dark brown complexion, and wearing black pants, a black ski mask, and a gray hooded sweatshirt.
A MAN REPORTED that he was robbed at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, in the alley in the 4400 block of North Drake Avenue, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 47-year-old man reported he was walking when he felt a blow to his head, fell to the ground and then briefly lost consciousness, according to police. The man reported that he regained consciousness and that a man punched him in the head before demanding his belongings and taking his backpack, cell phone and wallet containing $140 in cash, police said.
The man reported that he returned home and transported himself to Swedish Covenant Hospital for treatment, police said.
A REALTOR reported that a home in the 3300 block of North Kilbourn Avenue was burglarized at about 11:15 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 48-year-old woman reported that she was doing a check of the house before its closing date when she discovered that the rear and basement doors had been pried open, and that copper piping valued at about $600 was missing from the boiler room, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that an apartment in the 3700 block of North Cicero Avenue was burglarized between 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, and 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The 68-year-old man reported that he came to the basement unit of the building and discovered the rear door pried open and several copper items and pieces of wiring missing, according to police. It was not clear if the man lived at the Cicero apartment, police said.
A MAN REPORTED that his apartment in the 4800 block of North Drake Avenue was burglarized between 7 and 8:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, according to 17th (Albany Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front window had been opened and that a gold Gucci watch valued at $700, two gold wedding rings valued at $2000, a gold ring with clear stones, a stack of five gold rings and a pair of Michael Jordan sneakers valued at $140, according to police.
