A MAN WAS shot following a traffic incident at about 6:25 a.m. Friday, July 12, in the 3700 block of North Cicero Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Witnesses reported that they saw a red four-door vehicle with four men inside strike the 30-year-old man while he was on his motor scooter, and that when he got up from the ground, a rear passenger fired several shots at him, hitting him in the groin before the car was driven away with the scooter lodged under the car, according to police. Officers found the scooter in the 5100 block of West Dakin Street, police said.
The man was admitted to Illinois Masonic Hospital in serious condition, according to police.
AN EMPLOYEE reported that the Kordian’s Market food store, 6332 W. Higgins Ave., was robbed at about 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 19-year-old cashier reported that a man entered the store and asked for 10 lottery tickets valued at $100, and that when she gave them to him, he displayed a handgun and took $300 from cash the register, according to police.
The man was described as white, age 20 to 25, 5-10 to 6-1 and 160 to 180 pounds.
A TEENAGER reported that a man tried to lure her into his car at about 5:20 p.m. Monday, July 8, in the 6600 block of North Central Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 17-year-old teen reported that a red Ford Mustang stopped and the driver told her to get inside, and that as she fled, the car circled the block several times, according to police.
The man was described as white/Hispanic, age 25 to 26 and overweight.
TWO TEENAGE girls reported that a man tried to lure them to his vehicle at about 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, in the 3600 block of North Major Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The girls, age 13 and 14, reported that a white four-door car stopped and the driver offered them candy and tried to convince them to approach the car, according to police.
The man was described as white and age 20 to 25, with a black beard.
TWO TEENAGERS reported that a man grabbed one of them at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, in the 3300 block of North Ottawa Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The two 15-year-old girls reported that a man approached them on the sidewalk and grabbed one of them by the buttock and made a lewd comment to the other, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that a man tried to rob her at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 11, in the 6200 block of West Addison Street, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 50-year-old woman reported that as she was getting out of her car, a man approached her from behind and grabbed the straps of her purse and that he fled when she screamed, according to police.
The man was described as white/Hispanic and age 40 to 45.
TWO MEN and a teenager were arrested after they allegedly stole bicycles from racks at the Jefferson Park Chicago Transit Authority terminal, 4917 N. Milwaukee Ave., at about 9 p.m. Friday, July 12, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Witnesses reported that they saw the three cut the cable locks from two bicycles that were parked at the terminal and that they called police when they started to leave with the bikes, according to police. Officers recovered a Trek bicycle, a Giant bicycle and a set of bolt cutters from the suspects, police said.
The suspects were identified by police as Romell E. Oglesby, age 34, of the 8200 block of South Kimbark Avenue, Keith D. Landers, age 49, of the 1000 block of East 32nd Street, and a 14-year-old male.
A MAN REPORTED that a man attacked him at about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, in the alley behind his home in the 3900 block of North Newland Avenue, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 54-year-old man reported that a group of men were playing basketball in the alley and that their ball kept hitting his garage door, and that when he went outside to tell them to stop, one of the men punched him in the face and knocked him down, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5200 block of West Argyle Street was burglarized between 8:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Thursday, July 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door had been forced open and that a laptop computer was missing, according to police.
A WOMAN reported that her home in the 5100 block of West Hutchinson Street was burglarized between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The woman reported that when she returned home she discovered that the front door was open and that $10 in cash and several pieces of costume jewelry were missing, according to police.
A MAN REPORTED that his home in the 5300 block of North Cumberland Avenue was burglarized between 8:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Thursday, July 11, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The man reported that when he returned home he discovered that the front door had been forced open and that a gold necklace, a Sony laptop computer and a Canon camera were missing, according to police.
