Man, dog fatally struck by Amtrak train near Edgebrook station

by CYRYL JAKUBOWSKI
A man and a dog were fatally struck by an Amtrak train at about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, near the Edgebrook Metra train station, 5438 W. Devon Ave., according to transportation officials.
An Amtrak spokesman said Amtrak train 334 from Wisconsin to Chicago “made contact” with a person on the tracks. He said there were 132 passengers on board but no one was hurt. Metra officials said a man died after being struck by the train. Police are investigating if the man was wearing headphones, officials said.
A witness told Nadig Newspapers that he was running errands in the neighborhood and heard an Amtrak train blaring its horn and later saw that the train was stopped and a man and a dog were deceased.
Amtrak police are investigating.
