Man fatally stabs father

The son of a Chicago police officer was charged with first degree murder after he allegedly stabbed his father to death in an argument at about 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at a home they shared in the 3900 block of North Long Avenue, according to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The suspect allegedly stabbed his father 13 times with a serrated knife during an argument, according to the state’s attorney’s office. A neighbor said that he heard people yelling in the apartment and that he then saw the son covered in blood, the office said.
The victim was identified by police as James Haarman, age 53.
The suspect was identified by police as Brandon Haarman, age 27. He was ordered held in lieu of $700,000 bail.
