Man shot in industrial area of Sauganash near Peterson and Pulaski

A man is in critical condition after being shot in the abdomen in the afternoon on Tuesday, Feb.18, in the 6000 block of North Stevens Avenue, a primarily industrial area in Sauganash on Chicago’s Northwest Side, according to the Chicago Police Department Office of News Affairs.
The man was on a sidewalk at about 3:50 p.m. when a gray or silver sport utility vehicle drove by him and an person fired shots, striking the man in the abdomen, police said. Preliminary information said the victim is age 18 or 19, according to police.
After being shot the man reportedly was taken inside a car being driven by his companions and they left the area. A short time later he was transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital, police said.
In a public safety notice sent out by 39th Ward Alderman Samantha Nugent, residents were asked to call the 17th (Albany Park) Police District at 312-742-4410 if they have information, including surveillance footage, which could assist the investigation. Area 5 detectives are investigating.
