Mixed-use building with apartments, commercial space planned for Norwood Park

by BRIAN NADIG
A existing bar in Norwood Park would be demolished to make way for a new mixed-use building featuring eight apartments under a proposal approved last month by the 41st Ward Zoning Advisory Committee.
The four-story building would include two ground-floor commercial spaces, according to Alderman Anthony Napolitano chief of staff Chris Vittorio. He described the apartments as “high-end.”
The site, whose address is 5943 N. Northwest Hwy., is adjacent to a multi-family residential building, both to its north and south.
Trinity Pub Chicago currently operates on the site and remains open for business, with no immediate plans to close. A pub or restaurant reportedly could be part of the redevelopment, but plans are still in the works.
Financing would have to be obtained for the project, and the City Council would have to approve a zoning change for the project.
If a zoning application is filed with the city, Napolitano is expected to support the rezoning, as he usually follows the recommendations of his advisory group, which includes ward residents.
