New Six Corners meeting times welcome residents
The Six Corners Association is changing its meeting times to the evening to make it easier for neighborhood residents to attend. We hope you will join us and help continue the revitalization of Six Corners.
The new meeting times will be at 6:30 -8:00 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of the month on the 3rd Floor of the Portage Lofts building, 4041 N. Milwaukee Ave. On the first Tuesday, we will discuss beautification issues and economic redevelopment. On the third Tuesday, we will discuss promotions and organizing issues.
“Part of Six Corners resurgence, which will see more than 20 businesses open at Six Corners this year, has been due to community support,” said Six Corners Association President Levi Moore.. “The partnership of local residents and local businesses will make Six Corners a prime destination on the Northwest Side.”
Six Corners has had success getting local residents involved in the BBQ Fest and in fundraising for bike corrals. We are looking to building on that success by inviting more resident to spearhead projects that they think will improve Six Corners.
Beautification issues include landscaping, snow plowing, banners and holiday decorations. Economic development means recruiting businesses and helping strengthen current ones. For promotions, we could be working on festivals, new special events or planning a marketing strategy.
“Our surveys show that more than 90% of local residents believe a strong business district is valuable for the neighborhood,” Moore said. “We look forward to hearing great ideas and getting great contributions from the community”
