Outdoor police roll call planned for Laramie-Berteau following gunshots last month
by BRIAN NADIG
The 16th (Jefferson Park) Police District will hold an outdoor roll call at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the intersection of Laramie and Berteau avenues in response to reports last month of gunshots in the area.
In December, windows on two homes near the intersection were damaged by gunshots, and police later found shell casings near the homes, according to District commander William Looney. It also is suspected the the incidents are gang-related, he said.
No one has been arrested in connection with the gunshots.
Aldermen John Arena (45th) and Nicholas Sposato (38th) are scheduled attend the event. “This a great chance to meet and thank officers who work hard to keep our community safe,” Arena said in his weekly newsletter.
The district periodically holds outdoor roll calls in neighborhoods where there is a continuing crime problem or residents have voiced concerns about a specific incident.
