Portage will NOT be hosting Kid Ink concert
An online posting of a promotion for a Kid Ink concert next month listed the venue as the Portage Theater, but the actual location will be the Congress Theater, 2135 N. Milwaukee Ave., according to Eddie Carranza, who owns both theaters.
The Portage, which was closed last month, will remain shut down until a new operator is found. “No one can book anything at the Portage for the tine being, Carranza said in an e-mail.
Carranza had been leasing the Portage to a management company, but shortly after he purchased the company, he shut down the theater. There was no agreement between Carranza and the officers of the management company to keep the theater open while the licenses were being transferred. As of a week ago, an application to transfer the licenses to a new operator had not been filed with the city.
According to publish reports, the Congress has been closed recently for building code issues, but the theater is expected to re-open later this month.
