Reported shooting in Edison Park on Chicago’s NW Side under investigation

A 61-year-old man reported that a female acquaintance shot him in the back of his leg during a physical altercation with another man at about 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at a home in the 6900 block of North Ottawa Avenue in Edison Park, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

The man reported that the woman fired a round toward him but that he did not realize he was struck until later when he was riding a CTA bus and felt pain in his leg, according to police. The man exited the bus near Montrose and Austin avenues and walked to a nearby gas station, from where an ambulance was called, police said.

He was listed in stable condition, police said.

Police later went to the home and arrested a woman who reportedly was wanted on a warrant unrelated to the reported shooting, police said.

Area Five detectives are investigating the shooting, police said.
