Robbery reported on CTA Blue Line in Jefferson Park

A woman reported that a man stole her cell phone at about 10 p.m. Saturday, April 18, while she was riding a CTA Blue Line train between the Montrose and Jefferson Park stations, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The 47-year-old woman reported that she was riding the train with her daughter and they were the only two people in their train car when a man approached them and demanded her cell phone while holding his hand inside of his sweater pocket as though he was holding a handgun, according to police.
The woman reported that she gave him her cell phone and the passcode for the phone, police said.
The woman reported that the man refused to let them exit the train at the Jefferson Park station but let them exit at the Harlem station so she and her daughter rode a train back to Jefferson Park, went home and called 911, according to police.
The offender was described as male, age 25 to 35, 6-0 and 180 pounds, police said.
