Suspect charged with attempted kidnapping of teen at Irving Park-Narragansett bus stop on Chicago’s NW Side

A man has been charged with attempted kidnapping/enticement in connection with a Sept. 10 incident in which a 15-year-old girl reported that a driver several times asked her to get into his vehicle while she was waiting at a bus stop near Narragansett Avenue and Irving Park Road, according to Chicago police and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office.

At a Sept. 25 court hearing, a judge ordered the suspect, who was identified by police as 39-year-old Patrick S. Goldman, to be detained in jail, according to county records. The suspect was arrested a day earlier in a Chicago suburb, according to police.

The teen reported that starting at about 4:20 p.m. the driver pulled up near her several times, asking her to get into his vehicle, described as a black sports utility vehicle, according to a detention hearing proffer filed by the state’s attorney’s office.

The teen reported that at one point she walked toward a witness in an effort to create more distance between the defendant and her, as he circled back to the bus stop several times despite her refusal to enter his vehicle, the proffer stated.

The driver eventually parked his vehicle and ran toward the bus stop, but the teen already had boarded the bus, which drove away, according to the proffer.

The teen recorded one of her interactions with the man and also was able to provide the license plate number of the man’s vehicle, the proffer stated.
