Two suspects were arrested this week in connection with a robbery at about 4:05 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at the Mobil gas station, 5949 W. Higgins Ave., in which a man reportedly was attacked and had his car stolen, according to Chicago police.

Surveillance footage of the incident was used as part of the investigation, which led to one suspect being arrested on Oct. 16 in the 7100 block of West Foster Avenue and the other on Oct. 17 in the 8400 block of West Leland Avenue, according to police.

A worker at the gas station reported to police that two men and a woman went to the automated teller machine and one of the men was unable to withdraw cash, and a woman in the group allegedly took the man’s wallet, police said. The woman and the other man then allegedly drove away with the man’s Toyota Prius while he tried holding onto the vehicle, police said.

The man who had his car taken suffered multiple injuries as he was dragged alongside the car, police said. He was later treated at a local hospital, police said.

One of the suspects, who was identified by police as Shayna Sergerson, age 32, of the 7600 block of West Gunnison Street, Harwood Heights, was charged with robbery, aggravated battery/great bodily harm and failure to report an accident with an injury in connection with the incident, police said.

The other suspect, who was identified by police as Davell Dixon-Matthew, age 30, of the 7000 block of West Berwyn Avenue, was charged with robbery and aggravated battery/great bodily harm in connection with the incident, police said.

In the 16th (Jefferson Park) District through Oct. 13 there have been 113 robberies reported this year compared to 123 during the same period in 2023, an 8-percent decrease, according to police.
