Teenager with gun shot

A 14-year-old teenager was fatally wounded after he allegedly pointed a .44 caliber revolver at an officer at about 9:55 p.m. Friday, July 4, in the 4700 block of West Berenice Avenue, according to the Chicago Police Department Office of News Affairs.
Officers from the 16th (Jefferson Park) District saw the teenager crossing the street at Cicero and Berenice avenues with an object protruding from his waistband, according to police. When the officers approached the teen to conduct a field interview, he fled into the 17th (Albany Park) District, police said.
Officers chased the teen, and one of the officers shot him after the teen allegedly pointed the gun at him, according to police.
The youth was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Pedro Rios, age 14, of the 7400 block of North Ashland Avenue.
