Teens robbed at gunpoint in Edgebrook park
Five male teenagers reported that a man and a woman attacked and robbed them at gunpoint at about 9:35 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at Green Park, 6500 N. Algonquin Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The Edgebrook area teens, ages 13 to 16, reported that a woman and a man approached them in the park and that the woman said, “This is a hold up, get on the ground,” while the man pulled a silver handgun from his waistband and pointed it at them as they both dropped down to the ground, according to police.
One of the teens reported that when he looked up at the man and woman, the man kicked him in the face and told him to keep looking at the ground, police said. Two bicycles, five cell phones, four wallets and $120 were reported stolen, police said.
The teens reported that the woman said, “Sorry, our kids have to eat,” before she and the man fled in a white sport utility vehicle, according to police.
