Three men shot during altercation

Three men were shot and one was stabbed during a fight at about 4 a.m. Sunday, May 21, outside of the Zachary’s for Cocktails tavern 5368 N. Milwaukee Ave., according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
Three of the men were transported to area hospitals, and two of them were in critical condition, police said. A 30-year-old man was shot in his chest, a 50-year-old was shot in the middle of his back and a 51-year-old was shot in his left thigh, according to police.
The fourth man was not at the scene when police arrived and showed up with a stab wound at a local hospital later in the morning, police said.
The incident remains under investigation, but initial reports indicate that the man who was stabbed fired the shots and that there were rival motorcycle clubs in the area, police said.
A man reported that there was a fight outside when another man came out of the bar and began shooting, police said.
Zachary’s is one of the last liquor establishments on the Far Northwest Side to have a 4 a.m. license, which is extended to 5 a.m. on Saturday nights. The Gladstone Park commercial district used to have another 4 a.m. tavern, Lasko’s at 5525 N. Milwaukee Ave., but it closed several years ago.
Nearly all area bars are required to close by 2 a.m. (3 a.m. Saturday nights).
