Two businesses burglarized in Norwood Park on Chicago’s NW Side

Two smash and grab-style commercial break-ins were repeated to have occurred at about 5:20 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, in Norwood Park, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.
The glass front doors were reported shattered within minutes of each other at Mystic Rogue Irish Pub, 6070 N. Northwest Hwy., and Subway, 6072 N. Northwest Hwy., according to police.
Surveillance camera footage showed two men, who were described as wearing dark clothing, driving away from the restaurants in a red Jeep, police said.
At Mystic Rogue, two men could be seen on surveillance footage entering the restaurant and then leaving after they apparently saw there was no money in the register, which had been left open, police said.
At Subway, a register valued at $2,000, along with about $300 in cash inside it, was reported stolen, police said.
The district urges businesses to consider leaving registers, with little or no money in them, open overnight to help deter burglars from vandalizing or stealing a register.
