Unlicensed massage parlor in Sauganash cited; social club in Gladstone Park reportedly operates despite order to stop

City inspectors recently paid visits to a unlicensed massage establishment in Sauganash and a social club in Gladstone Park on Chicago’s Northwest Side.

The city Department of Business Affairs on Feb. 11 issued a cease and desist order to a massage parlor at 6029 N. Cicero Ave. for not having the proper business license, the department said. Seven citations also were issued. 

One online ad said that the establishment was open 24 years and included the abbreviation “BJ” as a possible service.

Pending legislation in Illinois would de-criminalize prostitution, requiring owners to pay sex workers minimum wage or higher and to provide safe working conditions. These businesses also would have to follow anti-discrimination laws.

The storefront was once home to a hair salon.

Also, on Feb. 1, citations for automatic amusement devices were issued to a social club at 5679 N. Milwaukee Ave., the department said. A cease and desist order that is still in effect was issued to the club on Oct. 24,2024, according to the department.

According to several residents and area merchants, the club can be “packed” at times.

In 2023 the department issued multiple citations and cease and desist orders for a club at the same location on Milwaukee.

“There were seven kiosk/coupon machines and two poker-type tables with cards and cash … present at the establishment,” the department said in 2023.

The citations included alleged public place of amusement and liquor-license violations, failure to display licenses and indoor smoking, the department said in 2023.
