Work under way at Illinois Veterans Home
Work is well under way on the $70.5 million Illinois Veterans Home at Chicago that is being built on 7.8 acres of land at the southwest corner of Forest Preserve Drive and Oak Park Avenue.
The five-story home will provide care for 200 veterans, and it will be operated by the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs. It will feature single occupancy rooms with private bathrooms and common areas for dining and visitors.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has approved federal reimbursement of up to 65 percent of the eligible construction costs on the project.
